March 2025 Lineup Features SXSW, Aesthetic MEET Before Austin Convention Center Closes for Redevelopment

March 3, 2025

AUSTIN, Texas – The current Austin Convention Center will host its final events in March 2025 before closing its doors for a long-awaited redevelopment and expansion. The month will mark the end of an era for the beloved venue, which has been a cornerstone of Austin’s cultural and professional gatherings. As the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festival and The Aesthetic MEET 2025 take place, they will host events in the space that has welcomed countless attendees over the years.

In April 2025, the convention center will close, beginning a construction transformation project to almost double the size of the facility and reopen in 2029 for the Spring Festivals in Austin.

SXSW, an Austin-based extravaganza that celebrates the convergence of technology, film, and music industries, is scheduled from March 7-15, 2025. Recognized as one of the premier multimedia festivals globally, SXSW events held at the Austin Convention Center include SXSW EDU from March 3-6, the SXSW Conference from March 7-13, the SXSW Film & TV Festival from March 7-15, and the SXSW Music Festival from March 10-15. The Austin Convention Center also serves as the registration headquarters for SXSW and is a Technology Partner for SXSW 2025.
